Do you need a current appraisal for an oil painting, drawing, limited edition print, sculpture or an entire fine art collection?
In order to realize the full, honest and accurate value of your work of art, always rely on a trained and tested professional appraiser who is an expert in researching and valuing fine art.
Art appraisal services and the documents that they generate can vary greatly in their monetary accuracy, quality of research, formal content, extent of documentation and price.
Beware of "Free Art Appraisals" and individuals who generate art appraisals who are not trained, educated or otherwise professionally qualified to properly value works of art.
The truth is that anyone can "claim' to be a personal property appraiser, so please beware.
PLEASE NOTE: At Art Services 2000 Ltd. fine art is our "only" business. It is not a sideline, hobby, part-time interest or adjunct activity.
We serve private clients, collectors and organizations throughout Florida, the United States and worldwide.
The artworks shown on our site are "actual photographs" of fine art items we have researched, appraised, valued or sold for our clients. They are not the "stock" photographs you will find on other websites.
CREDENTIALS:
When searching for a qualified art appraiser look for those individuals who meet the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice ( USPAP ) and are current fully accredited members in good standing of one of the three "recognized" professional appraisal organizations:
The International Society of Appraisers ( ISA )
The American Society of Appraisers ( ASA )
The Appraisers Association of America ( AAA )
All of their Accredited Members are trained and tested and must adhere to their organization's professional Code of Ethics. Make sure to contact the above organizations to see that the appraiser's membership is current and in good standing.
THREE TYPES OF APPRAISALS ARE:
INSURANCE REPLACEMENT VALUE APPRAISALS in case of loss or damage.
FAIR MARKET VALUE APPRAISALS for estate settlements, trust planning, equitable distribution of assets, divorce and to meet IRS guidelines for tax deductible ( IRS form 8283 ) charitable donations.
MARKET VALUE APPRAISALS for liquidation, collateral evaluation and the sale of works of art.
We can meet your specific legal requirements and can provide Expert Witness testimony and depositions for all of our appraisal report documents.
Our Director, Mark Alexander, ISA, AM , is a fully Accredited Member of The International Society of Appraisers. ( ISA Membership # 10995262 )
INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF APPRAISERS
The ISA specializes in the appraisal of Personal Property and is recognized by both The Appraisal Foundation and The North American Conference of Appraisal Organizations.
THE DEFINITION OF AN APPRAISAL:
THE NORTH AMERICAN CONFERENCE OF APPRAISAL ORGANIZATIONS defines an appraisal as:
"A written statement, independently and impartially prepared by a qualified appraiser, setting forth an opinion of defined value of an adequately described property, as of a specific date, supported by the presentation and analysis of relevant market information."
All of our fine art appraisal report documents are written in accordance to The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), guidelines established by The Appraisal Foundation Washington, D.C. and The Report Writing Standard of The International Society of Appraisers and The International Society of Appraisers Code of Ethics.
PLEASE NOTE: Appraisal fees are not based on commissions or percentages of items valued, the intended use of the appraisal or the financial outcome from its use.
Beware of any appraisal based on percentages of the item valued.
Once again, make sure to closely examine the professional credentials and fine art degrees and academic training of any appraiser before retaining their services.
Beware of art appraisers who hold no art or art history degrees or that claim Ph.D.degrees from high sounding but "dubious or obscure institutions", that are simply "diploma mills".
